Real estate agents can do better during Covid-19

It’s a pandemic, ya’ll.

If you’re a real estate agent you should be staying home and working from home. Virtual showings are the order of the day. This is life or death. The lives of our clients and fellow agents are threatened by our failure to stay home and socially distance during this time. We must take this seriously.

I’ve self isolated at home, now what?

I’m now in my fifth day working from home. Since creating content online is a huge part of my business, I’ve shifted my efforts from talking about neighborhoods, the market, and housing issues to amplifying messages about public health, and interviewing community members about how they are helping and how we can all help in our community. I strongly recommend other agents who create content follow suit.

What should I post on social media right now?

I’m not a fan of automated posting of any kind anyway, but if you have automated posts or scheduled content shut it down asap. Do NOT be that guy saying, “The market is still fine during the pandemic! I’m still hustling! Call me if you want to buy or sell!” People are going to be getting extremely sick and dying, this is really messed up. Just stop.

My collaborator Alyssa and I have been reworking blog posts, social media posts, and podcast episodes to mobilize MoveToTacoma.com’s platform to support the Tacoma community. We created a podcast last week that speaks to how and why we are shifting gears:

In this episode of our podcast, we talk about:

  • How we’re trying to support the community through our content

  • Best practices and dos and don’ts for content creation at this time

  • How to stay home and help others right now

Keeping a cool head and focusing on how to help is key for content creators, and we’d love to know what you’re doing right now!

Also, if you’d like to bounce ideas off of Alyssa and Marguerite, we are blocking out time each day to answer questions, share content ideas, and support you however we can for free.
