Planning Your Life Out for a Decade

Do you have someone outside your industry who pushes you to think differently and go further? I’m excited to share this conversation with my friend and collaborator Aaron J Jacobs. Aaron is a business coach that creates trainings for individuals and sales teams to learn how to tell their stories and look great on camera. He also has an awesome podcast called “Storied Coaching.”

Storied Coaching Podcast with Aaron J Jacobs

In the podcast Aaron and I talk about going your own way as an entrepreneur, how to know it’s time to make changes to what you’re doing, and how to create (and actually follow through on) a 10 Year Vision for your life and business. You can check out the interview on itunes and all the other podcast places, or watch it on youtube here:

10 Year Visioning Process

Aaron and I have completely different work lives, but over the years we have supported each other in creating and achieving goals and growth in our businesses. One of the biggest ways we have worked together is in February of 2020 we did a retreat and created a process for our 10 Year Visions. This 10 year vision is for our businesses and lives. Each year, we meet again and assess our progress towards the goals we set, make adjustments, and set new annual goals. I’ve since turned this process into a workshop I do for real estate brokerages and teams called “10 Year Vision, 1 year Action Plan.”

The lone photo from that fateful day that Aaron and I started a process for creating and working towards our 10 Year Visions.

In the podcast Aaron and I discuss some of the challenges we’ve faced so far- 3 years into achieving our 10 year goals. For example:

  • How do you stay on track working towards a goal for 10 years?

  • What do you do when you don’t see early progress?

  • What happens when your goals change?

  • How do check back in with your goals and adjust them over time?

If you’re thinking that a workshop on creating a 10 Year Vision for your life and business (and a plan for checking back in and making 1 year plans year after year till you reach your goals!) sounds like something you or your office might want to do, feel free to reach out. It’s one of my favorite workshops to give!
